Data protection in the euregio meuse-rhine
1. Data protection regulations
The Euregio Meuse-Rhine respects your personal rights.
This includes the right to privacy, which is guaranteed by Article 22 of the Belgian Constitution and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The Euregio Meuse-Rhine will process your data in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (basic data protection regulation / GDPR).
In this respect, the Euregio Meuse-Rhine treats all personal data according to the following principles:
- Lawfulness, good faith
- Earmarking
- Proportionality
- Accuracy and up to date
- earmarked time limit
- Confidentiality and data security
The following rights are granted to you by the GDPR:
- The right to information. If data concerning you are collected directly from you or through another source, you have the right to obtain clear information as to who is processing your data, what data are processed and for what purpose (Articles 12 – 14).
- The right to be informed about the personal data which an institution holds on you (Article 15).
- The right of rectification. If personal data held about you by an institution is incorrect, you have the right to ask for it to be corrected or completed (Article 16).
- The right of deletion (“right to be forgotten”) allows you to request the deletion of your personal data if you no longer wish them to be processed and the institution no longer has a legitimate reason to keep them. (Article 17).
- The right to restrict processing: Under certain conditions, you have the right to request that the processing of your personal data be restricted (Article 18).
- The right to data transferability: Under certain conditions, you have the right to have personal data that you have provided returned and to make it available to other bodies. (Article 20).
- The right to object: in certain cases, you may object to the further processing of your personal data if it is no longer justified by the performance of public tasks or the protection of legitimate interests.
- If you can prove your identity, you have the right, as a concerned party in accordance with Article 15, to obtain on request the following information about your data:
* the information as to whether or not data concerning you are being processed
*information on the purposes of such processing operations;
*information on the categories of data being processed;
*information on the categories of recipients to whom data may be disclosed;
*if possible, the planned duration of the data processing;
*information on the origin of the data if they have not been supplied by you;
*information on the possibility of lodging a complaint with the data protection authority.
The provisions of the Decree of 16 October 1995 on the publicity of administrative documents are also applicable.

2. The content of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine website
Every time a user accesses the Internet offer and every time a file is called up, data on this process is temporarily stored and processed in a log file:
- IP address
- Dwell time
- Browser and hardware usage
- Date and time
- Pages called up
- Retrieval sequence
- Search words
- Entry pages
- Exit pages
- Provider
- Country of origin
This data is collected exclusively for the quality assurance of our web offer. No other use or transfer to third parties takes place. Temporary cookies are used when calling up individual pages to facilitate navigation.
In certain cases we ask you to fill out a contact form, for example, when ordering information material online or at the material lending desk. This information will be used exclusively for correspondence or dispatch. In this case, the provisions of the GDPR also apply without restriction.
3. Contact persons
The data controller within the meaning of Article 4 of the GDPR is the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, Gospertstrasse 42 in B-4700 Eupen, represented by Mr Michael Dejozé, managing director of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. The Data Protection Officer within the meaning of Article 37 of the GDPR is Mr Michael Dejozé.
